FUTSAL RULES 

 

 

BORDER INDOOR SPORTS RULES FOR FUTSAL

 

DURATION OF THE GAME

  • All games are 2 x 18 minute halves with a 2 minute break at half time.Teams change ends at half time.

  • The season consists of 15 weeks, then 2 weeks of finals.

 

FEES AND PAYMENTS

  • Border Indoor Sports will determine all game fees. Game fees must be paid before players step onto the court. All fees are non refundable.

  • Games cannot begin until game fee are paid in full.

 

REGISTRATION

  • Registration fee must be paid before 4th round of the season. 

  • Teams that have not paid registration fees by the 4th round will be ineligible to play until payment is received in full.

  • All players must be ticked off game sheet  prior to all matches.

  • Players must play a minimum of 5 games in their team to be eligible to play in finals.

  • A player cannot register for more than one team in the same competition.

 

GAME TIMES

  • Fixtures will be provided after round 1 of each season.

  • A secondary fixture will be posted on the notice board at Border Indoor Sports.

  • Clock will start at fixture time.

  •  Failure to have at least 3 players on the court at game time will result in a 1 goal penalty to the opposition every 3 minutes to the maximum of 3 goals (9 minutes) which will then become an automatic forfeit.

 

POINTS

  • Teams are awarded 4 points for a win, 4 points for a draw, 2 points for a bye and 4 points for a forfeit.

 

FORFEIT

  • Any team that fails to give 24 hours notice for a forfeit will be required to pay their game fee plus the opposition’s game fee.($120) This must be paid in full by their next game or all players will not be inellegable to play.

FINALS

  • If two teams have the same amount of points on the ladder at the end of the season the highest position will be determined by goal difference.

  • In the event of a draw at full time in any finals game, Game will go to golden goal (first goal wins) which will consist of 2 x 3 minute halves. If no goal is scored in extra time the game will go to penalty shoot outs.

TEAMS

  • Teams must have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 players on the court at game time.  A Team can have up to 5 substitute players.

  • Mixed teams cannot have any more than 3 male players on the court at one time.

 

INJURIES

  • Blood rule- Any player bleeding must exit the court and have First Aid applied immediately. Any equipment and/or uniforms contaminated by blood must be cleaned or removed before the game can re-comence. 

 

UNIFORMS

  • All players must have matching shirts with visible individual numbers. This excludes the goal keeper who must be in a different colored shirt or bib to easily identify the keeper.

  • Shin pads are optional.

  • No hats or beanies to be worn during game time.

  • All players must wear non marking shoes.

  • In the event of a fill in player teams must arrange a matching colored shirt.

  • Uniform penalties will apply to teams not in full uniform that is stated above to the maximum of 3 goals.

 

JEWELLERY

  • Players must ensure all body piercings are removed or taped and Jewellery is removed prior to stepping onto the court. This is to ensure all players safety.

 

LANGUAGE AND BEHAVIOR

  • Swearing, negative and aggressive behavior will result in 1 warning from the referee followed by a yellow card then a red card if that behavior continues. Depending on the seriousness of the offence players may be asked to exit the stadium.

  • Any spectators who use negative or aggressive behaviors and language will be asked to leave the stadium, Failure to do so will result in game being abandoned with the offending team deemed to have lost on forfeit.

 

REFEREE

  • Minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 referee’s per game.

  • The referee’s decision is final.

  • If a player becomes aggressive on the court the referee may choose to send that player off for a “cooling off period” of 5 minutes. That player cannot be replaced by a substitute. If behavior continues a red card will be given.

  • Any fights will result in the referee stopping the game and asking the offending players to leave the competition. These players will not be welcome back to Border Indoor Sports.

  • Any queries players may have regarding Border indoor sports rules can only be addressed at half time or full time by the referee or management.

 

KICK OFF

  • Ball must be kicked forward at the whistle.

  • A goal cannot be scored directly from a kick off unless touched by another player.

  • Teams must be behind the start line before kick off can commence.

 

EQUIPMENT

  • Any player seen misusing  Border Indoor Sports  property will be warned, and then sent off if behavior continues.

  • If any border Indoor Sports  equipment is deliberately damaged or vandalized the person responsible will be charged for the repair or replacement.

 

COURT RULES

  • If the ball hits the roof or a light, the game will be resumed with a kick off from the side line where the ball hit.

  • A goal keeper may only slide in the defense of a goal if the slide begins inside the “D”, If the slide continues outside the “D” it must not connect with any other player.

  • When the ball goes out of play the ball must be put on the side line and the ball must be stopped before kicking.

  • The whole ball must go out before it is called “out”.

  • A player has 4 seconds to kick the ball back in, failure to do so will result in a turn over to the opposition.

  • Any penalty shot awarded on the siren must be played.

  • The game finishes when the referee blows the final whistle (not the siren). Any play before the referee’s final whistle will be counted.

  • The goal keeper must throw or roll the ball out of the ‘D’ for a re-start, but during play can place the ball on the ground before kicking.

  • The goal keeper has 4 seconds to play the ball.

  • If the goal keeper is still touching the ball when it goes out of the ‘D’ it will be deemed as a deliberate handball and a penalty kick will be awarded to the opposition.

  • A goal will not be awarded if the goal keeper throws the ball into the opposition goals unless it is contacted by another player.

  • Players will only be warned once before being issued a yellow card for any back chatting towards the referee.

  • Any player who kicks or throws the ball away from the designated play position after the whistle as gone will be considered time wasting which will result in a yellow card and free kick to the opposition.

  • Any player under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to play.

  • It is up to the referee’s discretion that the game be stopped for a keeper swap. The game clock will continue.

 

 

MISCELLANEOUS

  • No pets are allowed within the stadium

  • No bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters etc are allowed on the court at any time.

  • Venues are strictly NO SMOKING. Designated smoking areas will be provided,outside of the school property.

  • No alcohol is allowed on the premises.

  •  Teams are to provide a minimum of 2 team contacts, including mobile number and email address.

  • All players play at their own risk! Border Indoor Sports take no responibility for any injuries acquired while at Border Indoor Sports.

  • Any person asked to leave the premises that fail to do so will be considered a trespasser.

 

RED CARD

  • Two yellow cards in one match will be classed as receiving a red card.

  • Any player who receives a red card will be automatically suspended for 1 week.

  • Should a red carded player abuse the referee once being sent off they will be given a 2 week suspension.

  •  If a captain allows a red carded player to play the following week, the team will lose 8 premiership points and the captain will be suspended for 2 weeks.

  • Any player who receives 3 red cards will be suspended for the remainder of that season.

  • Red cards will be given and a penalty awarded to the opposition for-

  • Serious foul play.

  • Slide tackling of any nature.

  • Kicking or charging the goal keeper.

  • Physical abuse.

  • Abusive behavior towards the referee or any Border Indoor Sports property.

 

 

YELLOW CARD

  • Yellow cards will be given for-

  • Shirt pulling.

  • Pushing.

  • Time wasting.

  • Behaviour bringing the game into disrepute.

  • Negative and or aggressive behaviour towards the referee.

  • Player walks onto the court before the substituting player has walked off.

  • Changing goal keeper without notifying the referee.

 

 

INDIRECT FREE KICKS

  • Indirect free kicks will be awarded in the following circumstances

  • Dangerous play.

  • Obstruction.

  • Charging the goal keeper in the penalty area.

  • Players who take longer than 4 seconds to play the ball.

  • Any tackle from behind.

  • Pushing and shoving. (with elbows, hands or forearms)

  • Sliding.

 

 

DIRECT FREE KICKS

  • Direct free kicks will be awarded in the following circumstances

  • Goal keeper picks up the ball from a team mate pass back.

  • Any fouls in the goal keepers ‘D’, including hand ball.

  • When a team accumulates 5 fouls in one half.
